Why you need a patch test before laser tattoo removal

Why the patch test matters

No two tattoos—or skin types—are the same. Each tattoo you want removed needs it's own patch test.

Factors such as skin tone, hair colour, and sensitivity levels can influence how the laser interacts with the skin. The patch test reveals whether you’re prone to side effects such as blistering, hyperpigmentation, or other reactions.

Different inks respond differently to laser light. A patch test shows how well your tattoo pigment breaks down, giving both you and your practitioner an idea of how many sessions might be needed and what kind of fading to expect after each treatment.

A patch test is not just a formality—it’s an essential step in ensuring that your laser tattoo removal journey is safe, effective, and tailored to your skin.
